Two-step authentication (2FA)

Two-step authentication means that when logging in, you will need to use a second verification method in addition to your password – for example, a code obtained through an app on your phone. Two-step authentication improves security and is also used by many other services.

What are the benefits of using two-step authentication?
  • Improves information security: Protects your account even if your password would fall into the wrong hands.
  • Reduces the risk of fraud: Prevents unauthorised logins.
  • Is easy and quick to use: The additional verification only takes a moment, but provides considerably better protection.

Enable two-step authentication

  1. Download the authenticator app on your smartphone

  2. Open Fennoa's log in page in your browser

  3. Insert your username and password, click Log in

  4. Open the authenticator app and add your Fennoa user account

  5. The app will ask whether you want to read the QR code. Select Read QR code

  6. The app opens the camera view. Take a picture of the QR code on the Fennoa login page

  7. The app adds an account called Fennoa, and shows a variable verification code

  8. Enter the 6-digit verification code in Fennoa and click "Enable"

 

Help with problem situations

The 6-digit code from my authenticator app is not accepted – what should I do?

If the code generated by your authenticator app does not work, the time settings on your phone, authenticator app, and/or computer may be out of sync. Please check the following:

  • Check the time on your phone and adjust it to the correct time zone if necessary.

  • Check the time on your computer and adjust it to the correct time zone if necessary.

After this, try entering the code again.
Note: Make sure to check a new code from the authenticator app, as the code may have changed during these checks. Also ensure that you are entering the code for the correct service from your authenticator app.


I don’t have a smart device – how can I enable two-factor authentication?

You can also install an authenticator app on your computer via your operating system’s app store. Authenticator apps available for computers may differ from those used on mobile devices, so we recommend checking with your company’s IT department to see which applications they recommend.


Fennoa Mobile is asking me for a verification code – what should I do?

If Fennoa Mobile asks you for a verification code:

  • If you have not enabled two-factor authentication, enable it in your browser by following the instructions above.

  • If you have enabled two-factor authentication, open your authenticator app and check the current verification code there.
